How do I book a flight and buy an airline ticket?

yella asked:

I’m 17 and I’ve never handled traveling by airplane on my own. I am planning a trip to travel by myself to Ireland or England after I graduate. Can you help me figure out where to start as far as booking flights and buying tickets?
I’ll be 18 by the time I book the flights and buy the tickets, by the way.

I booked my first int’l travel when I was your age. I went to Ireland with some friends. I recommend that you go with a friend or two at your age. You will feel safer and have a blast! I book a lot of flights through kayak.com and also farecast.com (it tells you when to buy). They check all the sights and give you the best price. It’s totally a safe way to book.
    Good luck and have fun!

If you have a credit card you can book and pay for tickets online with various airlines or try expedia, zuji, etc.
