Are desktop replacement laptops really too big to bring on a flight? ?

A O asked:

I’m planning on getting one this winter but Ive heard they can be a bit too big for airline travel. I don’t mind a little discomfort, I just want to know if it’s actually possible to use one in a coach class seat. It would be great to hear from someone who has brought a laptop weighing at least 7 pounds on a flight before.

I don’t think that your allowed to use electronics on a flight, or at least that is what I have heard

Yes, you can bring it on a flight. The question you have to answer is do you want to be burdened with carrying an additional 7 pounds in your carryon?

I have done it, its a bit of a pain, but doable.

Not only does the weight and heat of large laptops effect your overall comfort but often these models are 17″ and can be difficult to operate in coach without disturbing your neighbour. Also better be sure you are able to plug in because most desktop replacements are battery munchers.
