What is the best way to earn airline miles?

I know there is the “Star Alliance” group that has these airlines:

another way to earn airline miles is to get a credit card that gives miles for purchases and doesn’t charge a fee.
Capital One doesn’t charge a fee.
Also check out American Express credit card but they charge a fee.

I say a visa will be the best but if u are a Star Alliance member then United does give u miles for shopping on FTD and Netflix or groceries at safeway, VONS, and Pavililians.
