Northwest Airlines does, has a flight that goes from Minneapolis to Seattle to Honolulu usually at least once a day. She can then get a flight from there to Kona. You can also try Hawaiian Airlines.

Try Expedia.com. Kayak.com and Orbitz.com for fares from numerous airlines serving MSP and KOA.

Northwest Airlines is based out of MSP. They have some low fares occasionally to Hawaii. The fly to Honolulu, Maui and Kona from the mainland

when i visited hawaii in november, we flew on american airlines to honolulu and then switched to aloha airlines to fly to kona. unfortunately, the only big airline that flys into kona is virgin airlines. my brother flew on hawaiian airlines from honolulu to kona and said it was a nice airline. all flights are expensive.
