It’s highly unlikely you’ll get a non-stop flight from Italy to Seattle. Maybe but … if not … I recommend flying the Amsterdam-Minneapolis route. That’s the easiest way with the best airports. Both of them are clean, friendly and easy to find your way around in. Amsterdam is also very “English” friendly as most of the Dutch speak English. Also, if you have a long layover, you can take a 20 minute train ride to downtown Amsterdam and look around — it’s well worth it. There is also an art museum in the airport. Things to bear in mind with international travel as it can be VERY frustrating!
PS Try and stay out of Heathrow! It’s a mess!

The only nonstop flights from Europe to Seattle are from London (British Airways and Northwest Airlines), Copenhagen (SAS), Amsterdam (Northwest), Frankfurt (Lufthansa), and Paris (Air France). Any of these are good, but I’d probably choose Northwest since AMS is great for connections, and their transatlantic economy-class is a little better than the others currently.
