Emirates Airlines Baggage Allowance

Emirates Airlines is one of the best Airlines and provides its costumers with its most generous baggage policies. Emirates Airlines Checked Baggage Allowance

Emirates provides is passengers with one of the world’s most generous baggage policies. When flying with Emirates Airlines you can enjoy the following checked baggage allowances:

Weight concept:

Economy Class: 30kg

Business Class: 40kg

First Class: 50kg

Dimensions Concept:

Old Policy (For tickets issued on or after 15th November 2014):

Individual items with total dimensions (length + width + height) exceeding 300cm (118 inches) cannot be transported as checked baggage, and must be sent as cargo or freight. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Current Policy (For tickets issued prior to 15th November 2014:

Items beyond 300cm (118 inches) and up to 400cm (157 inches) in length may be accepted in exceptional cases. Please contact your local Emirates office for details at least seven working days prior to travelling with such items. Items exceeding this limit must be referred to Emirates SkyCargo. If the free baggage allowance is exceeded, normal excess charges apply.

Baggage policy for Canada, North America or South America:

For itineraries including any destinations in Canada, North or South America, different baggage rules apply. For Canada and North America, customers are allowed two bags of up to 23kg each in Economy Class, and two bags of up to 32kg each in First Class or Business Class. For South America, customers are allowed two bags of up to 32kg each in all classes.

For travel on Emirates from Australia, New Zealand or Asia to North or South America which includes a stopover in Dubai greater than 24 hours, or a sector in Europe or Africa, the weight concept will apply for the entire ticketed journey.

Piece Concept:

Old Policy (For tickets issued on or after 15th November 2014):

Total dimensions (length + width + height) of each piece must not exceed 150cm (59 inches). Customers with individual items exceeding dimensions of 150cm (59 inches) and up to 300cm (118 inches) will be charged an additional fee. Individual items with total dimensions exceeding 300cm (118 inches) cannot be transported as checked baggage, and must be sent as cargo or freight.

For customers with two pieces of luggage in all three classes, the total combined dimensions of both pieces should not exceed 300cm (118 inches).

Current Policy (For tickets issued prior to 15th November 2014):

Total dimensions (length+ width+ height) of each piece must not exceed 158 cm (62 inches).

For Economy Class customers with two pieces of luggage, the total combined dimensions of both pieces must not exceed 273 cm (107 inches). Customers with baggage exceeding these dimensions will be charged an additional fee.

If you are an Emirates Skywards Platinum, Gold or Silver member, you may also be entitled to additional allowances.

Interline baggage policy:

If your travel starts in the United States and the first carrier on your booking is not Emirates, different rules may apply.

Interline flights are flights that are on the same ticket as your Emirates flights, but operated by another airline and do not have an ‘Emirates’ flight number. These airlines may have a different baggage allowance to Emirates. Refer to the interline partner baggage allowances for information on allowances and charges for carry-on baggage and the first and second checked bag.

Personal motorised vehicles are not allowed on board:

For safety reasons, Emirates Airlines can’t accept personal motorised vehicles such as hoverboards, mini-Segways and smart or self-balancing wheels on Emirates Airlines flights. Emirates Airlines can’t carry them either as checked-in baggage or as hand luggage as they contain large lithium batteries. This regulation still applies even if you’re connecting to Emirates Airlines flights from an airline that has accepted them.
