I have booked expensive travel for next month. My parent suddenly died and I can’t make the trip. Can I expect my airline to make some consideration (refund) when I cancel my travel – due to the death?
Thanks for any ideas.

Possibly, but I think travel insurance covers that.
MITCHEL
Possibly but do not count on it.

they have some compassionate fares. But may tell you tickets are good for one year. would want proof of death as this is common in travel changes. Need to talk to them, they can be frustrating, if you’re lucky, you’ll find someone who will work hard to help you. Sorry for your loss. Been there….

Usually NOT, unless you are covered by trip-cancellation insurance.
BUT, call the airline and you shall “possibly” get a credit for future travel (up and until one year from the original date of purchase), considering your circumstances.

By reason of force majeur and since it is direct member of your family, they will normally refund it. I have read it somewhere in one of the airlines’ terms and conditions. I expect it goes the same with other IATA member airline.
On the other hand, in my experience, one airline allowed me to return back to the place of my origin without paying anything when my parents died while I’m on a trip.
My condolences.

WOW you got 4 top contributors to answer your question!
Im sorry about your parent.
You will need to call the airline to check it out. They may make you pay a fee.
